Dr-Ashley Smith, DVMDr. Ashley Smith has been a practicing veterinarian at Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital since 2012. Originally from Moundsville, West Virginia, her passion for veterinary medicine led her to Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Dr. Smith then headed south to Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in Tuskegee, Alabama where she earned a DVM degree in 2010. After graduation she practiced at the Banfield in Peachtree City, Georgia where she quickly became the lead doctor.

Dr. Smith has special interests in dentistry, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and parasitology. She currently resides in Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania with her family. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her husband and newborn son and their “fur kids” - a golden retriever Abby, and three cats Oscar, Kayli, and Tux.

In her spare time, she also enjoys movies, reading, and traveling. Dr. Smith values the close relationships she has built with her clients and their pets and looks forward to continuing to provide the best medical care possible.

Dr. Madeline Leidy, DVMDr. Madeline Leidy grew up in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania and received a Bachelor of Science from Delaware Valley College. She then received a DVM degree from The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, Dr. Leidy completed a year-long rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson in Arizona. Since then, she has worked in the Pittsburgh area in emergency practice, as well as small animal general practice. Dr. Leidy's special interests include emergency medicine, wound management, surgery, and ultrasound.

In her free time, Dr. Leidy enjoys weight training, snowboarding, boating and anything that involves water, and spending time with her "fur kids". She has two dogs, Tonka and Penelope, as well as three cats, Monster, Link, and Marshall.

 

Darah Himmelhoch, BVScDr. Darah Himmelhoch grew up in Fox Chapel and still resides there today. She attended Swarthmore College for undergraduate studies before heading abroad to veterinary school at the University of Melbourne in Australia, where she earned a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) with Honors. Dr. Himmelhoch also has an MBA degree from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (now called the Booth School of Business).

Prior to joining us, Dr. Himmelhoch practiced at Kenora Veterinary Hospital in Kenora, located in far Northwestern Ontario, Canada. Her special interests are internal medicine, surgery, and ophthalmology. She also had a pet sitting business in the Fox Chapel area and previously worked at a marine mammal rehabilitation center in Southern California, where she helped rehabilitate elephant seals, California sea lions, harbor seals, dolphins and whales in order to return them to the wild.
